HAVEN OF HOPE donates motor bike to blind Priest.

Fr. Solomon, CMI is a “legally blind” priest living in Kerala, India. Fr. Solomon directs programs for visually impaired and disabled children and young adults.

While Father’s programs are very successful, without having a vehicle, and unable to drive, it is very difficult for him to get around to see his students or establish new programs.

Having difficulty securing a vehicle, Fr. Solomon reached out and approached CHOH with the request to please help him with this problem. Well, CHOH extended our generosity and answered his prayers by purchasing a brand new MOTOR BIKE for him.

Since Fr. Solomon is not permitted to drive, a dear and kind friend graciously volunteers and drives him to visit his disabled children and keep other appointments that he might have each day.

HOH celebrates Independence Day

Today is August 15th 2018, Independence day in India and we are having a wonderful time! We have been waiting for this day to come and we knew that there would be so many new and exciting things for us to do.
This day in India is like July 4th is in America, so we started off the day with a parade (no uniforms —only bright colorful clothes) and marched with other children, priests and nuns, while proudly waving our Indian Flag. After that the fun and games began, and what made it more exciting, was that we were getting a chance to better know the “NEW” children who are living in HOH – not only to teach them the traditions of this special day, but to also have fun playing and becoming friends with them!
WOW – there were so many fun things to do, we did not know where to start. These games and activities were not only fun for us, but also gave us a chance to exhibit our “hidden talents” , regardless of our physical challenge, by completing them successfully. WOW, have we grown since last year – if you could see us now and all the wonderful things we can do!

Our First Report Card to you! “Time Flies When You Are Having Fun!!”

Dear Friend,

Where did the time go??? It is so hard for us to believe that our 1^st year at Haven of Hope is over and we are now going back to our homes and families for our summer break. WOW, have we learned a lot and you should see how smart we are!!!

Along with our academic learning at our CMI school, we had so much fun after school at our Haven of Hope. We learned how to sing and dance and put on shows (Look out Broadway – NY – here we come!) We also had fun in yoga, karate, making things in arts and crafts, free and structured play, AND most of all MAKING NEW FRIENDS!!!

Now we are going home to our villages for a one-month holiday – kind of a summer vacation. We are looking forward to being with our families, so that they can see how much we have grown and to share with them some of the super things we have learned – they will be so surprised and happy! We are also very excited to celebrate a big Hindu Feast called ”Holi”, which is the feast of colors. It is very similar to Halloween, where we pour colors on people.

We surely will miss our Haven of Hope, but know that soon we will be back again, all rested and ready for another year of fun and ready to learn more new things on April 5th, 2018!!!

Center of Special Needs children opened

On December 1, 2017 Children Haven of Hope opened its daycare center for the mentally challenged children. The facility will be shared with the physically challenged children Monday through Friday.
