VISION OF HAVEN OF HOPE – AFRICA
My vision for HoH – Africa is completely different from HoH – India. In Africa, my plan is to work first to unite groups of people who are living in the same area and bring them together socially and spiritually so that they can come to know one another and develop friendships through a common interest, and my ultimate goal would be to unite them through faith. I would like to eventually connect all of these different groups and bring them together and create “a parish “under the direction of priests.
WHY AFRICA?
It was my passion to reach out to African Mission after hearing and watching Television about the poor people and the poor situation of our Catholics in Africa. That is why I started saving my extra income which accumulated to a substantial amount to build a solid institution for the poor in Africa as a memento for my silver jubilee. But due to different situations like ‘Ebola’ etc, and the encouragement from a CMI ‘Father Swami’ who promised me to come to Africa to help me to open a mission in Africa after fulfilling the Indian Mission of Haven of Hope for the disabled children, I steered my attention to the poor children in India. With the support of my CMI Province, my Haven of Hope with 20 disabled children in India is being taken care of very well.
Meantime, Father Swami was taken away by God who is inspiring me now to take up the African Mission by myself. Actually one day, after the blessing of the Haven of Hope in India, I was meditating in the Church, suddenly, I felt like God asking me why don’t you go for your African Mission and I believe Father Swami is pushing God to go for it. Immediately I called my Provincial who promised me the full support including sending enough priests for the Mission. My plan now is to connect you with my Provincial Fr Justin Akkara before our Provincial Synaxis which is due on the beginning of September. I have a few priest friends in Uganda from the different Orders like MSFS, SDB, SVD who also recommended to contact your excellency.
Sincerely Yours,
Rev. Pauly Thekkan CMI
